OUR MISSION

Through a Christ-centered focus, our mission is to inspire, educate, and empower at-risk youth through character building, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurship.

OUR VISION

PDYE seeks to provide meaningful mentor and empowerment programs that serve disadvantaged youth, ages 8-18. Our vision is to equip the disadvantaged youth of today with the resources and guidance they need to realize their best self by attaining their purpose in life, allowing them to become great citizens within their community.

OUR STORY

PDYE was established through the efforts of Mrs. Nita Page and her husband Mr. Kenneth Page wanting to promote reading literacy. They both served in the public school system and witnessed so many minority youths not being able to read on grade level. It was evident that the students were scoring below average on the state reading exam. About nine months after being incorporated, PDYE hosted their first Read-n-Treat at the local community college. The late actor and entrepreneur, Tommy Ford from “The Martin Show”, was their celebrity guest. The bond Mr. and Mrs. Page created with him led Mr. Ford to serve as the organization's celebrity spokesperson. PDYE had many local businesses partner with the organization resulting in PDYE orchestrating a giveaway of over 1,000 free books, other educational resources, food, and treats. After receiving positive feedback regarding the event, Mr. and Mrs. Page made a vow to continue the event annually. The event grew each year with PDYE's last event being held at Hulen Mall in Fort Worth, Texas before the pandemic serving over 5,000 youth and their families.

PDYE's efforts quickly became apparent within the community and word spread, this resulted in the organization's growth culminating in over 100 volunteers which included many high school students. Both Mr. and Mrs. Page realized that was a pivotal moment, so in the future they wanted PDYE to be both student-centered and student-led. The Pages had already formed two mentoring groups: Ladies of Distinction and Men of Vision back in 2005, but officially included their activities within Purpose Driven Youth Empowerment when the organization became incorporated in 2014. In the 2018 PDYE started with a small group of 25 students, their student youth groups over time increased to as many as over 300 or more. The Page's loved what they were doing and the impact it was making. The growth was unbelievable, but Pages then relocated to another city in Texas and the pandemic surfaced, hindering PDYE's operations.

Presently, PDYE is currently in a rebuilding phase seeking to firmly establish itself in the areas surrounding Houston TX. Although PDYE has faced many challenges the organization remains committed to sustaining the momentum and passion that called the Pages to continue their mission.
